Serigraph Monoprints

One day in 1987, I attached torn paper strips to my silkscreen as a border and started smearing, throwing, and brushing paint directly on it.  When I got the feeling I was finished, I would squeegee the mess through.  The resulting prints were beautiful and so much fun.  Artistically, I did nothing else for two years.  At the end of a day of printing, I was covered with paint and had to wash with lacquer thinner.  Then I woke up one night with my liver painfully swollen.  I was having a bout of toxic hepatitis.  My swelling liver broke a nerve that goes to a part of my leg which no longer has feeling.  I haven’t used oil paint since.

My favorite monoprints were loud splashy floral images.    I have made some of these available as signed & numbered digital reproductions in editions of 200.  They are all about 14” x 22” ,  printed on archival matte paper, cost $80 each, and are shipped in a tube.
